Dr. Dorothy Headley Israel will be the speaker for St. Cyprian’s monthly Jazz Vespers on Sunday, March 15. The informal service of readings, prayers, and great music will honor Women’s History Month, and our featured jazz artists this month is The Mix. Following the service there will be a wine and cheese reception. Join us for a time set apart for women to share, to ponder, to pray, to listen, and learn together. We will consider the significance of a labyrinth and walk our own courtyard labyrinth. We will learn more about our worship and our symbols. As we choose to do so, we will share our pain and our joys, all enfolded in prayer. The group will define its focus. Four Saturdays in March (7,14,21,28) from 10:00 to noon. The first meeting on the 7th will be in the church, but the rest will be in the Mission House. Contact Pastor Deena Galantowicz at 461-9747 for more information. Wednesdays in Lent: A simple Soup and Salad pot luck at 6pm followed by a video & discussion "Saving Jesus." We'll ask a couple of people to signup to bring pots of soup and others can add salad and dessert. At 7pm we'll watch a segment of the video "Saving Jesus" and follow it with a discussion. Join Marcus Borg, John Dominic Crossan, Matthew Fox, Amy-Jill Levine, James Forbes and a host of others for an exploration of the relevance of Jesus Christ for the third millennium. Stations of the Cross is a meditation on the last steps of Jesus. At each of the fourteen "stations" there is an artistic rendering of the events of the last hours of Jesus' earthly life. Participants move from stations to station stopping at each one to reflect upon the event through a simple liturgy. Lay leaders will be present each Wednesday at 5pm to lead Stations of the Cross, but it can also be done as a individual meditation at any time.
Our Lenten Season begins with the Ash Wednesday service of Holy Eucharist and the Imposition of Ashes at 5pm on February 18.
Join us for a celebration of the Feast of the Incarnation - the birth of Jesus - at 5pm on Wednesday, December 24.
Join us for a service of Advent and Christmas Lessons & Carols on Sunday, December 21 at 5:30pm. Following the service there will be a Trolley Tour of the Lights of St. Augustine, and then Jim Vande Berg's Famous Chili back at the Mission House. St. Cyprian's is a welcoming congregation and all are invited to join us for the evening. Donations will be accepted to offset the cost of the Trolley Tour, and reservations are a must. Join us for our November Jazz Vespers with the Kenny MacKenzie Trio. The informal service begins at 5:30pm and is followed by a Wine & Cheese reception. REMEMBER - Jazz Vespers - November 16 at 5:30pm.
Jazz Vespers with Mama Blue - Join us at the end of Romanza Festivale for an evening of jazz with acclaimed singer Mama Blue. Our Jazz Vespers is an informal service of readings, prayers and delightful music, and it is open to the public. following the service there will be a Wine & Cheese reception in the Mission House. Jazz Vespers will be taking a sabbatical for the summer and the next Jazz Vespers will be September 21.
