Worship Booklet Sermon Sermon by Deacon Steve Seibert A man dies and goes to heaven. St. Peter meets him at the pearly gates. “Here is the requirement for admission,’ he says. “You tell me the good things you have done in your life. I will tell you how many points each is worth. Once your total adds up to 100, you’re in. I’ll even start you off with 25 points, to cover those good acts you may not remember. Most people get 20, but hey, you’re an Episcopalian! How does the sound?” Video of service
Worship Booklet Sermon Sermon by Deacon Steve Seibert Previously on our series ‘Life on the Shore of the Sea of Galilee: The Sacred Community of Jesus’: Amen I say to you, unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. And so, whoever becomes humble as this little child is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. If your brother does something wrong, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If he listens, you have won back your brother. Video of service
Worship Booklet My reflections on Frank By Dorothy Deeh Israel Sermon Sermon by Deacon Steve Seibert We meet this morning to honor Frank and we meet to mourn, both with Frank’s family and acknowledging our own loss of this man who loved so well. Today, as the author of Ecclesiastes wrote all those centuries ago, we weep and we laugh, we mourn and we dance (that is, our hearts are filled with joy). I have heard it said that one aspect of maturity is the ability to be able to hold seemingly opposing ideas at the same time. I am a sinner. I (and you) are loved by God beyond any reckoning. Yes, today is a day when our emotions will be pulled in opposite directions. |
